CalRecycle Holds Workshop and Releases Report on New Recycling Goal

Earlier this week, CalRecycle hosted an introductory workshop on the development of a new draft report “California’s New Goal: 75% Recycling,” which was sent to the Legislature. The meeting was the first of a series and introduced the draft report, as required by AB 341 (Chesbro, 2011). The draft report provides strategies for achieving the statewide goal that 75 percent of the solid waste generated be source reduced, recycled or composted by 2020.

California Strategic Growth Council Awards $45.3 Million in Second Round of Grants for Sustainable Community Planning and Urban Greening Projects

Last week, the California Strategic Growth Council awarded $45.3 million to 93 awardees including cities, counties, regional and local agencies, and nonprofit partners. The grants fund climate action plans, infill development plans, sustainable community strategies, urban green plans and projects and other efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.
